Taking computed tomography to a new level of quality

We visited our customer Wieland Electric in Bamberg and show you in our user story how the traditional company has raised its quality processes to a new level with our exaCT L computer tomograph. Wieland and WENZEL stand for quality made in Germany and both companies also have the guiding principle "tradition meets innovation" in common. Founded in 1910, Fritz Wieland laid the foundation for the company with his slotted clamp, the so-called Wieland clamp, which today is primarily active in the Building Solutions and Industry Solution business units. Wieland Electric accompanies customers from project planning to project completion.

In the more than one hundred years that Wieland has existed, there have been a number of changes. From a component supplier to a solution provider, Wieland has always evolved. At all times, the focus has been on quality and ensuring it. And this is where WENZEL comes into play.

Before the exaCT L 250 from WENZEL moved in at Wieland, the innovative, watertight connectors had to be embedded, sawed, ground, polished and then checked for quality using 2D measuring microscopes. The exaCT L 250 from WENZEL took quality assurance to a new level. Typical defects in plastic components such as blowholes, material distortion or material accumulation in undesirable places are not uncommon and must be eliminated before further processing.

With the CT from WENZEL , these defects can be detected immediately by non-destructive testing of the plastic parts. This enables Wieland to check the quality of its products quickly and easily. The CT analyzes the parts and evaluates their quality by means of a target/actual comparison.

The CT device from WENZEL is characterized above all by its intuitive user guidance. As in the example of Wieland, inspection processes can be carried out non-destructively and, above all, in a fraction of the time previously required for inspection. In its performance class, the exaCT L 250 is one of the most compact on the market. It has three independent axes and offers impressive X-ray performance. With its hardware and software, the exaCT L 250 can be easily integrated into the production line and thus provides the market-driven answer to questions relating to Industrie4.0.
