For high-precision measurement of large and heavy parts in the marine industry, such as engines or propellers, the Support Center for Ship Repair at Mokpo National Maritime University from South Korea relies on a holistic measurement solution from WENZEL.

The Support Center produces large processing repair facilities and measuring machines, which are necessary for the repair of ships and ship components. Researchers at Mokpo National Maritime University were looking for machines to start the ship repair support center and a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) LH 1210 with optical and tactile sensors. Trust was quickly built in the long-standing know-how of iMeasure's metrology experts and the quality of the WENZEL CMMs.

The SHAPETRACER 3D line scanner from WENZEL in combination with the LH 1210 coordinate measuring machine forms the ideal tool for capturing and processing point clouds. The measuring solution is ideally suited for the acquisition and processing of surfaces and contours of workpieces. The WENZEL SHAPETRACER is controlled by the WM | PointMaster software package and operates at an extremely fast scanning speed of up to 48,000 points per second and an accuracy of 20 μm.

Due to the advantages described, the measurement solution from WENZEL prevailed over well-known competitors. The project for the Support Center for Ship Repair at Mokpo National Maritime University was finally finalized in October 2020. Meanwhile, iMeasure has even opened an office at the support center. The support center in Mokpo has already gained some additional overseas repair services through the new measurement solution.
