WENZEL closes the first half of 2022 with significant growth in order intake and sales. The new products and applications are increasingly supporting the core business. Supply chain problems and skills shortages remain the biggest challenges.
Following a strong recovery in 2021, the WENZEL Group was also able to increase sales in the first half of 2022 by more than 30% compared to the same period of the previous year despite the difficult market conditions; for new machines even by more than 40%. The basis for this was the significant increase in incoming orders in the 2nd half of 2021, which gave a significant boost to production. This also demonstrated that the introduction of the 4-day week in production at WENZEL has not reduced productivity.
"Introducing the 4-day week as our workload increased was certainly brave. But our great employees have shown us that it works. We manage the same and even more than before in a concentrated way on 4 days - and at the same time all employees in production have one day more off!", the managing partner Dr. Heike Wenzel is pleased.
The above-average depth of value creation at WENZEL currently helps to ensure that existing supply chain problems are not as severe as with other industry players. "Unfortunately, the strained supply chains certainly make for longer delivery times at the moment, but we are proud of the fact that we can almost always still deliver our customized solutions within a period of 3 to 4 months," says Dr. Heike Wenzel.
The order books were also well filled for the second half of the year. With further growth of more than 15 % and almost 20 % for new machines, growth will slow down somewhat in the second half of the year, but the level in the second half was already significantly higher.
We were able to achieve the strong growth worldwide in almost all target industries and product areas. In addition to our classic measuring systems for high-precision coordinate metrology, the solutions for gear metrology and for design model construction introduced in 2021 and the further development of numerous solutions in the area of production metrology and computer tomography are now also making an increasing contribution. The investment in WENZEL BRT in the Czech Republic and the new development and sales partnership with VisiConsult from Lübeck will certainly also trigger a further growth spurt.
